[ NOT THE LEECH ATTACKS... amy adams you will always be beautiful. ]
...From Boothill. He made me this Thursday.
[ probably record-time whittling but he's a literal machine man so it's fine!!!! ]
...I was right there with him. But I couldn't do anything to help him.
[ i'm sorry kabby the sadsacking never ends. ]

My memories of my friends kept me going. But... I could feel my heart growing weak, while I was there.
I can't say I ever wanted to come here of all places, but in some ways I'm lucky I did.
[ she only thinks this because it's w0 monday ]
...I was able to save him from being trapped with me, but he's gone missing.
[ she takes a pause. that's enough kh for now. ]
But what about you? What happened to your sisters...?

[ HELP THIS IS THE FUNNIEST ROAST. ]
...I know. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
[ reason doesn't push away the feelings of helplessness, but the gentle gesture is comforting. ]
I just... don't want to lose anyone else.
[ another shared sentiment, surely. ]

[ her smile is small but appreciative, and she wraps her hand around camille's.
her grip then tightens, as the following words evoke the feeling of ice creeping down her spine. her eyes widen slightly—despite having seen the words on her, the context is somehow worse than she could've imagined.
there's losing a loved one to accidents, to natural catastrophy... but this is different. malicious.
she's just quiet for a moment, letting the terrible weight of that sink in, and she brushes her thumb across the back of camille's hand. ]
...I'm so sorry.
Have you had to bear that alone, too?

[ studying her rulebook curiously, and then glancing over to camille. i don't know what would've compelled aqua to randomly check hers, or carry it around, but she IS a nerd so we can always use that as an excuse. ]
...Does yours say the same thing?
[ points to new rule that just popped out of nowhere. ]

[ TIME WARP! aqua nods. she can kick off this little ceremony... ]
Death was kind enough to lend us his aid while he could.
Aventurine was companionable, and I think many will miss his company.
Boothill... [ she pauses for just a moment. ] He was a good man. One of my first true friends here.
...May their hearts find peace, wherever they've gone to rest.
[ smashcut to the gy with nuut fighting and pulling on each others hair and then making out for affection week ]

Not anymore.
[ she repeats, expression soft. she's glad there are people there for camille, though she has to wonder what other scars haven't been made apparent by the ink, yet.
and a year is not that long, but aqua genuinely hopes it's been kind to her, given all that she's lost. ]
...They're probably worried sick about you. You must miss them, too.

[ aqua might've avoided the theatre, too, but... she this time she's actively looking for people. and she wonders, if someone might be hiding somewhere this unlikely. she wonders if that someone may need company, all the more for that reason.
so when she looks in to see camille by herself, it's easy to tell something's not quite right.
when she sees her carving into her own arm with a splinter— ]
Camille—!
[ she grabs her wrist, grip strong, pulling her hand and implement away before she can deal more damage. her gaze falls to the lines of blood leaking down the woman's arm, and her eyes widen. ]
You're hurt.
[ she's hurt herself. ]

[ her grip stays strong. her voice doesn't raise at camille, but there's a distinct thrum of hardened emotion underneath it, something close to anger.
not at camille, but at the hopelessness of their situation—what she suspects has driven her friend to this. ]
No, you're not. This isn't fine
None of this is fine.
[ she'll use her other hand to try and pry the piece of wood from camille's grasp. ]

[ camille will have to lose this spat. aqua doesn't relent, and though there's something about her tone of voice that gives her pause, about the timbre of her voice and the way she shakes that's like a knife to the gut, she does what she must.
she wrestles the splinter away from her, tossing it away somewhere down towards the stage. ]
Camille... I'm sorry.
[ she can't do anything else for her. she doesn't even begin to understand what's churning in camille's mind. she just knows a fraction of her pain, and that she isn't alone.
not anymore.
she wraps her arms around her, loosely, letting her fight out of her embrace if she needs to. at least, she won't open any new wounds in the process. ]
